Caring for Your Ring
Your single-crystal diamond ring is exceptionally durable, but proper care will ensure it maintains its brilliance for generations.
Daily Wear
Diamond is the hardest natural material on Earth, making your ring exceptionally resistant to scratches. However, diamond can chip if struck at certain angles with force.
Remove During Physical Activities
Take off your ring during sports, gym workouts, gardening, or any activity where it might be struck or exposed to impact. The edges and points are most vulnerable to chipping.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals
While diamond itself is chemically resistant, certain chemicals can leave residue that dulls brilliance. Remove your ring when using cleaning products, chlorine (pools), or applying lotions and perfumes.
Be Mindful of Pressure
Avoid gripping hard objects tightly while wearing your ring. Constant pressure against hard surfaces, while unlikely to damage immediately, is best avoided.
Cleaning Your Ring
Regular Cleaning (Weekly)
- Fill a small bowl with warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap
- Soak your ring for 20-30 minutes
- Gently brush with a soft toothbrush, paying attention to any faceted areas
- Rinse thoroughly under warm running water
- Dry with a lint-free microfiber cloth
Deep Cleaning (Professional)
For thorough cleaning, professional ultrasonic cleaning is safe and effective for diamond. We recommend professional cleaning every 6-12 months.
Note: Steam cleaning is also safe for diamond but should only be performed by professionals.
What to Avoid
- Abrasive cleaners: Even though diamond is hard, abrasive pastes are unnecessary and messy
- Harsh chemicals: Bleach, acetone, and other strong solvents
- Rough brushes: Use only soft-bristled brushes
- Paper towels: They can leave lint; use microfiber instead
Storage
Separate Storage
Store your diamond ring separately from other jewelry. Diamond can scratch other gemstones and metals, and other diamonds can scratch each other at weak points.
Soft-Lined Box
Use the presentation box provided or a soft-lined jewelry box with individual compartments. Fabric pouches also work well for travel.
Stable Environment
Store in a dry place with stable temperature. Avoid extreme heat or humidity, though diamond itself is unaffected by normal environmental conditions.
Secure Location
Keep your ring in a secure location. Consider a home safe for storage when not worn for extended periods.
Insurance & Documentation
We Strongly Recommend Insurance
Given the unique nature and value of single-crystal diamond rings, we strongly recommend obtaining specialized jewelry insurance that covers:
- Loss and theft
- Accidental damage
- Full replacement cost (not depreciated value)
Keep your certification, purchase documentation, and photographs in a safe place separate from the ring. These will be needed for insurance claims.
